REVIEW

Reviewing, revising and refining your TEL environment

After you have analysed your unit, it should be clear which aspects of your TEL environment need to be modified for the delivery of the next iteration. It might not be necessary to make any major changes, and if that is the case then you may just to need to refresh your unit.

REFRESHING YOUR UNIT

This might involve the following:

  • Updating or adding URLs
  • Updating a reading list
  • Modification of content to reflect trends in your discipline
  • Clarifying content

REBUILDING YOUR UNIT

A rebuild of your unit may be necessary if there have been:

  • Accreditation changes
  • Redesign of the learning guide to reflect accreditation changes
  • Planned changes to unit content
  • Change of prescribed textbooks or reading lists
  • Recommendations by the School Academic Committee
  • Students have not been engaging in learning activities
  • Poor assessment results
  • A shift from one high-stakes assessment task to a range of summative assessments
  • Creation of formative assessments throughout the unit
  • Change in the structure of the way the content is taught

If any changes are made, it is important to ensure that the alignment between your learning activities, assessment activities and learning outcomes are maintained. These changes should also be reflected in your design blueprint for the next iteration of your unit. See QM General Standard 2, 3, 4 and 5

The review of your unit is an iterative process and involves the analysis, review and schedule for modification. The following diagram illustrates this process.
